I wanna grow something wild and unruly
The Chicks are Martie Maguire, Natalie Maines and Emily Strayer
The Chicks are one of the highest selling female bands, they’ve sold 33 million albums, most of these in the USA. In the 26 years they’ve been around in the current lineup there have been 5 studio albums, 2 live albums and 2 Greatest Hits albums released. This site tells some of their stories.
The band started in 1989 as the Dixie Chicks with Martie, Emily, Robin Lynn Macy and Laura Lynch. Robin and Laura departed and the door opened for Natalie to join which she did towards the end of 1995.
I’ve followed The Chicks since the Wide Open Spaces album in 1998. I love the band for their musicianship, their belief in what’s right and their ability to change. All three women are multi talented. Emotion, politics, passion, love. Peace and love.
I love the music and I also love that the band has frequently stated their support for and donated to LGBTQ issues and human rights issues. I wish there were more published albums but as they themselves have said, the babies/children have taken up a lot of time (and the divorces).
Their Twitter tagline “Superstars, renegades, innovators, heroes, villains, and moms.”

I’m a big fan and all opinions are mine alone. I’m also a big Springsteen fan and have highlighted any connections between him and The Chicks.
